Staffordshire Cricket is one of 39 County Cricket Boards in England and Wales whose role is to Lead, Inspire, Influence and Support the Growth, Quality and Accessibility of Cricket in Staffordshire. We are a registered company limited by guarantee and our membership consists of representatives from all areas of the game and its wider partners. We are the governing body for the cricket in Staffordshire and our aim is to make cricket the sport of choice.
Our role begins in bringing cricket to our primary, secondary and special schools by delivering the Chance to Shine programme. We provide high quality coaching of PE fundamentals through to county cricket competitions including disability, kwik cricket, lady taverners, Chance to Compete and English Schools Cricket Association (ESCA). We also deliver Cricket 4 Teachers courses to help sustain cricket in our schools supported by strong club links.
We help to develop a safe, welcoming and high-quality network of affiliated clubs through Clubmark accreditation, providing advice on sustainable club development, facility improvement, funding and self-help through initiatives like NatWest CricketForce and volunteer recruitment as well as grounds equipment hire to improve our pitches.
Development of our cricket coaches is fundamental to our success as a cricket county and we provide a complete list of coach education courses, development workshops alongside safeguarding and first aid courses to help produce a high-quality coach workforce.
Our player pathway targets talented young cricketers and helps them to develop to compete to the best of their ability through 37 district and county age group teams. These teams are coached and managed through our SYC (Staffordshire Young Cricketers) programme and enhanced by our Player Development Scheme (PDS) and our Emerging Player Programme(EPP) and onto minor county, first class county and international cricket.
The growth and quality of cricket in the county is supported through our work with officials, umpires and scorers, grounds staff and coaches through a number of strong associations all underpinned by a strong commitment to the welfare of our players.
We welcome innovation in the game and support new and alternative formats – like indoor cricket and Last Man Stands - to help to make cricket as accessible as possible for today’s busy lifestyles.
